Dr. Ravi Singh is a highly specialised cornea transplant, cataract, and laser refractive surgeon in Newcastle. With over 20 years of experience in Ophthalmology, he has taught laser corrective surgery to other eye specialists through the University of Sydney.

He completed his Ophthalmology training at the Sydney Eye Hospital and graduated from medicine at the University of Sydney. Dr Ravi Singh also has advanced training in cornea transplant surgery, corrective laser eye surgery, laser cataract surgery, cataract surgery, and eyelid surgery from London, UK.

He consults at Hunter Laser Vision, and operates at Charlestown Private Hospital. Dr. Ravi Singh was also the Head of the Ophthalmology Department at John Hunter Hospital for 5 years.

Dr. Ravi Singh is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Oculoplastic Surgeons, the American Society of Cataract Surgery, and the Cornea Society of America and Australia.

Dr. Deepa Viswanathan is an experienced Ophthalmologist with subspeciality training in Corneal disorders.

She qualified as an Ophthalmologist in India and completed a two-year clinical and research Corneal fellowship at Sankara Nethralaya Medical Research Foundation, one of the premier Ophthalmology training institutes in Asia. During her fellowship, she underwent comprehensive training in the management of Corneal, ocular surface, and anterior segment disorders. She worked as a consultant in India and was a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) Glasgow before moving to Australia.

She obtained further clinical Ophthalmology experience at the John Hunter hospital Newcastle, Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and Westmead hospital Sydney and was awarded the fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO). She works in private practices in Sydney and Newcastle. She is a visiting medical officer (VMO) at John Hunter Hospital and has operative rights at St Vincent’s Private Hospital and Liverpool Eye Surgery, Sydney.

Academic and research

Dr. Viswanathan completed a PhD on Corneal structure and biomechanics in Glaucoma and Keratoconus at Macquarie University, Sydney in 2015. She has conducted several clinical research studies, authored publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals, and presented at numerous Ophthalmology conferences. She reviews papers for Ophthalmology journals and is a senior clinical lecturer at Macquarie University, Sydney.
