Keratoconus is a condition where the front part of your eye, called the cornea, gets thinner and starts to bulge out like a cone. This shape change can make your vision blurry or distorted, and you might have trouble with bright lights. It usually starts in your late teens or early twenties and can happen in both eyes, but not always evenly.
The exact cause isn't clear, but factors like genetics and rubbing your eyes might play a role. Treatment options vary depending on the severity of the condition and can include glasses, contact lenses, corneal cross-linking, CAIRS or, in more advanced cases, corneal transplant surgery.
